CHARLOTTE BETTS-DEAN

Charlotte Betts-Dean was born in 1990 in Berlin, Germany. She began singing at a young age with various groups in Berlin and, upon returning to Australia at the age of ten, began touring internationally with Gondwana Voices.
Currently in her third year of the Bachelor of Music at Melbourne University, Charlotte has been the recipient of multiple Scholarships including the Mona McCaughey Scholarship, Gwen Nisbet Award and Lady Turner Prize. She has received awards as a finalist in several competitions, including the National Liederfest and the Opera Scholars Australia Scholar of the Year Competition.
For Victorian Opera, Charlotte has most recently appeared in Assembly for Melbourne Festival, as soloist for the VO 2012 Season Launch, and was the Mezzo soloist in the Hallelujah! It’s Christmas concert at BMW Edge. Charlotte has performed as a recitalist for The Lieder Society of Victoria and The Austral Salon, and as chorus for several Opera and Early music productions including Rameau’s Pygmalion, Bizet’s Carmen and Mozart’s La Clemenza Di Tito. Her overseas musical training includes study with Dame Emma Kirkby at last year’s Dartington International Summer School and regular lessons with vocal coaches in Berlin.
Charlotte loves all repertoire but is particularly fond of late romantic and 20th century art song.

EAMON & DUDI PROJECT

The Eamon and Dudi Project are a Melbourne-based guitar duo inspired by the musical culture of Latin America. Currently in their third year of a Bachelor of Music degree at the Victorian College of the Arts, both musicians hail from dynamic musical backgrounds.
Together the duo’s performance of primarily Brazilian repertoire reflects a fusion of South American Jazz and classical guitar with refined technical skill; an exciting and impressive accompaniment to your event.

JULIA BAKOWSKI
Julia Bakowski began studying the classical guitar at the age of ten, and made her first festival appearance as a teenager. In 2011 she completed a Bachelor of Music Performance under the direction of Antony Field (Melbourne Quitar Quartet; former member of ARIA-winning guitar quartet Saffire) and is now studying Honours at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.
Julia has been nominated for the Frances Quinn Arts Encouragement Award, was a member of more than one finals-ranking ensemble in the 2010 Melbourne University Alumni Chamber Music Prize, and in recognition of her interpretation of the music of JS Bach, Julia was awarded the President’s Encouragement Award at the 2011 Classical Guitar Society of Victoria Members Guitar Competition.
She has performed at venues such as the Grant St Theatre, Karralyka Theatre, St John’s Southgate, Xavier College Chapel, BMW Edge and Melba Hall and has played live on 3MBS FM’s ‘Live at the Convent’ broadcast series multiple times.

KHASM QUARTET
KHASM Saxophone Quartet have been playing together for approximately two years and are gaining a reputation as one of Melbourne's finest classical saxophone quartets. They have been performing regularly around Melbourne in 2011 at venues such as the National Gallery of Victoria and Melba Hall and have been featured in multiple live broadcasts on 3MBS FM. Recently, KHASM were the joint winners of the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music Chamber Music Competition as well as the recipients of the 2011 Athenaeum chamber music award. They were invited to perform at the Percy Grainger museum's 50th anniversary celebrations and have performed in fundraisers through the Musical Society of Victoria, the Musical Students Society and UNICEF. KHASM also received recognition outside of the Melbourne when they were offered a fellowship to attend a week of masterclasses at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the United States.
In April 2012, KHASM plan to do a national tour to meet and collaborate with other saxophonists, and hope to be visiting Hobart, Perth, Brisbane, Sydney and Christchurch. KHASM will also be performing a recital of saxophone quartet repertoire, including a world premiere of a work by Australian composer Peter Neville, at the next World Saxophone Congress in St. Andrews, Scotland, in July 2012. At the end of 2012, KHASM will be releasing a CD of standard and Australian works for saxophone quartet.

MICHAEL MACMANUS
Michael MacManus has been playing the classical guitar for over 13 years.
After completing a foundation music performance course at the Victorian College of the Arts Michael is currently a 3rd year BMUS student at the prestigous Univsersity of Melbourne where he is studying under ARIA award winning guitarist and renowned pedagogue Antony Field.
During his studies, Michael has played in master classes by the international greats Stanley Yates, Ricardo Gallen, Peter Constant, Adam Khan and James Day. He has also received tuition from the leading Australian guitarist Daniel McKay and from the South Korean Professers Lee Song-Ou and Sung-Ho Chang from the Korean National University of the Arts during a recent overseas trip.
A seasoned performer, Michael has performed at venues such as Melba Hall, St Peter Claver Hall and Sacred Heart Church to name a few, along with live radio broadcasts and various performances with the classical guitar society of Victoria.
Michael is a passionate musician who breathes fresh air into the world of classical guitar, incorporating a mixture of classical, jazz and popular music in his performances, enabling him to connect with a wide audience.

YVONNE GU
Yvonne Gu is a young pianist studying Master of Music at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music with Associate Professor Stephen McIntyre. She won the 2nd prize at the Zhi-Yin Youth Piano Competition, 18th Shanghai Spring Music Festival in 1999. In 2009, she gave a Debussy recital for 3MBS FM “Live at the Convent” program. She was selected to participate in Piano'2011 Festival in Australia National Academy of Music. In May 2011, she performed with the Melbourne University Symphony Orchestra at Melbourne Town Hall.
Yvonne has been performing regularly around Melbourne for various events, including weddings, corporate functions, and clubs. She is also an experienced accompanist for instrumentalists and vocalists.
